LANCASTER, PA — In a move that acknowledges local tradition while embracing the future, the Lancaster Barnstormers, a longstanding team in the Atlantic League, are now officially the Lancaster Stormers. The team unveiled a fresh logo and updated branding ahead of their 20th season, maintaining ties to their agricultural roots but adding a modern twist.
“Coming off back-to-back championship seasons and entering our 20th year, we thought this would be the perfect time for updated branding,” said General Manager Mike Reynolds.
The rebranding doesn’t mean the club is turning its back on its past. Cylo, the beloved mascot, will continue to be a fixture at Clipper Magazine Stadium and around town. The Stormers’ uniforms will still sport a “barn” patch on the sleeves, and the team’s colors remain red, black, and gold.
But there are changes. The club’s nickname has been shortened to “Stormers,” a nod to the colloquial term fans have used for years. And the new logo introduces a powerful bull, complete with a bolt of lightning across its forehead.
The decision to feature a bull, Reynolds explained, came after much deliberation. The creative team explored various symbols from roosters to rams, horses to weathervanes, and even tractor combines. In the end, the bull, embodying strength and determination, was the clear choice.
The logo package includes two versions: a head-on mark and a profile of the bull charging through a barn. The new logo comes with custom typography, a font inspired by Pennsylvania Dutch calligraphy, a nod to the region’s history.
The rebranding is about more than aesthetics. It aims to generate fan excitement, expand merchandising opportunities, and inspire themed game-day activations. It’s about evolving the brand while remaining authentic to the club’s roots and the region’s agricultural heritage.
The Stormers partnered with SKYE, a national leader in sports branding, for the rebranding process. The final result is a testament to a true team collaboration.
As they storm into the future, the Lancaster Stormers hope to continue their winning streak in the Atlantic League, a Major League Baseball’s Professional Partner League. The league has been a gateway for over 1,200 players to MLB organizations and has drawn more than 46 million fans to its family-friendly ballparks in its 26-year history.
Entering their 20th year, the Lancaster Stormers will continue to play home games at Clipper Magazine Stadium in downtown Lancaster, Pennsylvania. The stadium has been voted Ballpark Digest’s Best Ballpark in MLB Partner League Baseball three times.
As for the newly minted Lancaster Stormers, they’re hoping to make their opponents see red in 2024. With a fresh logo, an updated name, and a renewed sense of purpose, the Stormers are ready to take on the new season, staying true to their roots while embracing the future.
