Lake Paul Honored for Diversity and Community Leadership in Biotechnology

BioAnalysis

PHILADELPHIA, PA — Lake Paul, founder of BioAnalysis LLC, has been recognized as a 2025 Diversity in Business honoree by the Philadelphia Business Journal. Paul’s innovative transformation of a former Kensington factory into a successful biotechnology research center has combined industry leadership with a commitment to community development.

Paul established BioAnalysis LLC in Kensington, one of Philadelphia’s historically underserved neighborhoods, to demonstrate how high-tech innovation can drive social change. His company, now serving over 100 clients ranging from startups to global corporations, embodies his belief that science and community impact can be interconnected.

“We wanted to prove that scientific excellence and community impact could go hand in hand,” Paul said. “Our location isn’t just about having a business address – it’s about showing what’s possible in Kensington.”

Under his leadership, BioAnalysis secured $1 million in state funding to transform 9,000 square feet of factory space into cutting-edge laboratories. The company’s workforce mirrors its dedication to diversity, with people of color making up over 35% of employees and women holding more than half the positions. Beyond the workplace, Paul has forged impactful partnerships with nonprofits like Life Science Cares Philadelphia, HopeWorks, and Philabundance, focusing on initiatives addressing poverty and workforce development.

Paul’s own story is a testament to resilience and determination. Born in Guyana, he moved to Miami at 13 and later earned a full scholarship to study biology at the University of Miami. After teaching science in his Miami neighborhood for a year, he pursued a Ph.D. in biophysics at Purdue University, laying the foundation for his career in biotechnology.

His enduring impact on both fronts signals a promising future for innovation that not only pushes scientific boundaries but also drives meaningful social change.
