ITS Construction Scheduled on U.S. 1 in Bucks County

Traffic Alert

BUCKS COUNTY, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has announced plans to carry out Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) construction along U.S. 1 in Bensalem and Middletown townships next week. The work represents a key phase in the ongoing $116 million project to reconstruct and widen a three-mile section of the corridor, aimed at improving traffic flow and infrastructure reliability in Bucks County.

Between Monday, February 24, and Thursday, February 27, periodic lane closures will occur in both directions on U.S. 1 between Rockhill Drive and Fairhill Avenue. The closures, scheduled between 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM daily, will allow for the removal of temporary ITS equipment.

The current construction, part of PennDOT’s U.S. 1/RC2 contract, encompasses the reconstruction and widening of U.S. 1 from south of the Rockhill Drive Interchange to north of the Penndel/Business U.S. 1 Interchange. This broader initiative is aimed at improving the safety, capacity, and functionality of a critical transportation route that serves the local community and commuters alike.
