Inmate Found Deceased at Chester Correctional Facility

CHESTER, PA — On August 28, 2024, Kevin Campbell, an inmate at the State Correctional Institution at Chester, was discovered unresponsive in his cell. Prison staff, along with emergency medical services, promptly initiated life-saving measures. Despite their efforts, Campbell was pronounced dead at 7:12 p.m.

Kevin Campbell, aged 37, was in the midst of serving a 6-to-13-year sentence. This sentence stemmed from a robbery conviction in Monroe County. He had been an inmate at SCI Chester since October 3, 2023.

In line with institutional protocol, the Pennsylvania State Police were informed and will be spearheading the investigation into Campbell’s death. The Delaware County Coroner’s Office will determine the official cause of death. Campbell’s next of kin have been notified about the incident.
