Inlet Repairs to Cause Lane Closures on Route 309, Expect Delays

PHILADELPHIA, PA — The Philadelphia Water Department will begin inlet repairs on Route 309 (Cheltenham Avenue) starting Wednesday, June 19. This project will affect traffic in both Philadelphia and Cheltenham Township, Montgomery County.

From June 19 through June 26, a 24/7 closure is scheduled for the eastbound express lanes of Route 309 between Route 611 (Old York Road) and Broad Street. During this period, motorists will be directed to the eastbound upper lanes of Route 309.

Additionally, from June 19 through June 26, a single-lane closure is scheduled on the westbound express lanes of Route 309 between Route 611 and Broad Street. This closure will occur weekdays from 6:30 AM to 4:00 PM.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through these areas due to expected backups and delays. The repair schedule may change depending on weather conditions.
