PHILADELPHIA, PA — The 2025 Intercompany Long Term Care Insurance (ILTCI) Conference will feature a thought-provoking keynote session highlighting caregiving challenges through a special screening of excerpts from Caregiving, an upcoming two-hour documentary executive produced by Bradley Cooper. Set to air nationwide on PBS in June 2025, the documentary provides an intimate look at the personal stories of caregivers and the complex realities of short- and long-term care, as well as palliative and end-of-life care.
The keynote session, sponsored by CareScout, will be held on March 10, 2025, from 9:00 to 10:15 a.m. EST during the first day of the conference. It will incorporate key scenes from the documentary and a panel discussion featuring members of the production team alongside caregivers featured in the film. This unique program aims to foster understanding of the caregiving experience while emphasizing the critical role of long-term care solutions.
“This early access to Caregiving provides a unique opportunity to explore the profound impact of long-term care needs, as well as the experiences of those who care for our loved ones,” said Karen Smyth, CEO of the Intercompany Long Term Care Insurance Conference. “It aligns perfectly with the mission of the ILTCI Conference to inspire and educate professionals in our industry.”
Shining a Light on Caregiving Challenges
Produced by Lea Pictures, Ark Media, and WETA, the Caregiving documentary spotlights the unseen and often undervalued work of caregivers across the United States. By sharing their stories, the film aims to raise awareness about the emotional, physical, and financial challenges they face, particularly as the baby boomer generation ages and more individuals choose to remain at home under the care of loved ones.
Jeff Levin, President of ILTCI and Chair of the 2025 Conference, emphasized the importance of the session in addressing issues central to the long-term care insurance sector. “The ILTCI Conference is built around the pillars of Inspire, Lead, Trust, Collaborate, and Innovate. We are thrilled to spotlight this important documentary and showcase the vital work being done by professionals in our industry. Our discussions often cover the issues others shy away from, and this keynote is an exceptional opportunity to deepen our understanding of the tools and resources that protect both individuals in need of care and the caregivers supporting them,” Levin noted.
Broader Implications for Caregivers
With the growing trend of aging in place, caregivers often face significant hurdles, including burnout, lack of formal training, and inadequate support services. The keynote session builds on the ILTCI Conference’s mission to advance understanding across sectors and deliver tangible tools and strategies for addressing these challenges—not just for caregivers but also for the individuals relying on their care.
The Caregiving documentary’s premiere on PBS is scheduled for June 2025, with an official date to be announced in February. Meanwhile, the ILTCI Conference keynote aims to serve as an inspiring preview of the film’s potential to ignite conversations across healthcare, public policy, and insurance industries.
With its mix of emotional storytelling and practical insights, Caregiving highlights the human side of long-term care, urging stakeholders to consider innovative approaches to support individuals and families in their caregiving journeys. Through this keynote event, the ILTCI Conference solidifies its role as a platform for collaboration and meaningful dialogue, preparing professionals to meet the growing demands of an aging population.
