I-95 Night Work in Northeast Philly to Cause Traffic Slowdowns

Traffic, lane closed

PHILADELPHIA, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced that nighttime core borings will take place next week on Interstate 95 in Northeast Philadelphia.

From Tuesday, May 28, through Thursday, May 30, between 8:00 PM and 5:00 AM, right lane closures will be in effect on both the northbound and southbound lanes between the Betsy Ross Bridge and Allegheny Avenue interchanges.

Motorists should plan for extra travel time as backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities depend on the weather.

These core borings are part of the design phase for PennDOT’s upcoming I-95/AF3 project, which aims to reconstruct northbound I-95 and its structures between Ann Street and Wheatsheaf Lane. The construction for Section AF3 is tentatively set to begin in 2025.
