PHILADELPHIA, PA — Philadelphia’s Manayunk neighborhood is set to transform into a festive wonderland as the Manayunk Development Corporation presents ‘Holidays in Manayunk’. The five-week-long celebration promises an enchanting holiday experience that rivals a scene from a Hallmark movie.
The festivities commenced last week with the largest tree lighting in Manayunk’s history. Over 2,000 holiday enthusiasts flocked to Main Street and Canal View Park, witnessing the magical moment when thousands of lights twinkled to life during the ‘Manayunk Gets LIT’ event.
As part of the ‘Get LIT Weekends’, which start on November 30th, visitors can explore the neighborhood bathed in twinkling lights, enjoy food and drink deals, and take advantage of shopping specials. A highlight of the weekends is the Jolly Trolley – a free trolley service making stops at various businesses along Main Street. This year, the Jolly Trolley service has expanded to cater to more dates and times.
In addition to the vibrant holiday atmosphere, visitors can support local businesses offering enticing deals and events for Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, and Cyber Monday.
Adding to the holiday cheer, Taqueria Amor will once again transform into ‘Señor Grinch’, a spectacular Christmas pop-up bar. With its dazzling decorations, special holiday dishes, themed cocktails, and photo opportunities, it is sure to warm even the coldest of hearts.
Pet lovers can mark their calendars for ‘Santa Paws’ on December 2nd, where pets can pose for photos with Santa. Fitness enthusiasts can partake in the 9th Annual Rudolphi Run on December 9th, starting at the Manayunk Canal at 9:00 AM, supporting the North Light Community Center.
Visitors are also encouraged to contribute to ‘Operation Santa’ by donating gifts at 4312 Main Street. Pick a gift from the tree and make a difference in someone’s life this holiday season.
“The season kicks off with ‘Manayunk Gets LIT’ and the lighting of the holiday tree – and continues through New Year’s Eve,” said Gwen McCauley, Executive Director of Manayunk Development Corporation. “Our holiday programs bring together the best of the urban experience and the small-town charm that distinguishes Manayunk from other districts and neighborhoods in the city of Philadelphia.”
