Heartbreaking Tragedy: Woman Killed in Bear Pedestrian Crash Identified

BEAR, DEDelaware State Police have identified 37-year-old Jessica Jordan of New Castle, Delaware, as the victim in a fatal pedestrian crash that occurred Tuesday evening on a northbound off-ramp from State Route 1 to Pulaski Highway.

The incident unfolded on March 25, 2025, at approximately 5:00 p.m., when a GMC Sierra driven by a 74-year-old man from Bear, Delaware, veered onto the shoulder while navigating a curve. The vehicle first struck the rear of a Mazda CX-9 parked on the shoulder and then hit Jessica Jordan, who had been walking toward the rear of the Mazda.

The same crash also injured a 39-year-old New Castle man who had been attempting to change the tire of a disabled vehicle parked in front of the Mazda. The GMC’s right front struck the man after striking Jordan and the parked vehicles.

Emergency medical services treated the GMC’s driver for minor injuries at the scene. The 39-year-old man was transported to a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. Jordan was also transported to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

The Delaware State Police Troop 2 Collision Reconstruction Unit is continuing its investigation into the crash.
