Guiderail Inspection Slated for I-476 in Montgomery and Delaware Counties

Traffic Alert

WEST CONSHOHOCKEN, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has announced that guiderail inspections are scheduled for next week on I-476 as part of a comprehensive $63.7 million project to enhance nearly 17 miles of the interstate. The initiative encompasses resurfacing, repair, and safety improvements aimed at modernizing a critical transportation corridor in Montgomery and Delaware counties.

A moving lane closure will be implemented on Monday, February 24, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, affecting both northbound and southbound sections of I-476 between the interchanges with I-76 (Schuylkill Expressway) in Montgomery County and I-95 in Delaware County. Motorists traveling through the area are advised to allow extra time as traffic delays and backups are anticipated. PennDOT emphasized that all scheduled activities are weather-dependent.

The guiderail inspection is part of a broader effort under PennDOT’s resurfacing and bridge rehabilitation initiative. The project includes milling and overlaying travel lanes and shoulders, repairing 49 structures, enhancing stormwater management basins, addressing rock slope stabilization, upgrading sound walls, and installing new safety features such as guiderails, rumble strips, signage, and pavement markings.
