LANCASTER COUNTY, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has announced a planned lane restriction on westbound Route 283 this Thursday night to facilitate essential repairs to fiber optic cables and a digital message board.
The work will occur between Route 772 and Clover Leaf Road, necessitating the closure of the left lane from 9:00 PM Thursday, September 26, until 6:00 AM Friday, September 27. During this period, a width restriction of 10 feet will apply to the open right lane, requiring motorists to exercise caution and remain vigilant while navigating the work zone.
This operation forms part of a broader initiative aimed at maintaining and repairing Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) equipment across multiple counties in PennDOT District 8, encompassing south central Pennsylvania and extending to other parts of the state. The contract for this extensive $5,583,518 project has been awarded to Kuharchik Construction, Inc., based in Exeter, PA. The overall work is anticipated to conclude by July 2, 2027.
