MEDIA, PA — CASA Youth Advocates of Delaware & Chester Counties have been awarded a $161,000 federal grant to bolster their community engagement efforts. This funding aims to enhance the Voices for Children Coalition, an initiative focused on strengthening support systems for youth and families.
The grant will significantly expand the coalition’s existing database on child well-being, a critical resource for policymakers in Delaware County. Additionally, it will fund the development of a Community Resource Training Program, aimed at equipping families and young adults with the necessary tools to navigate local services effectively.
A key aspect of the initiative includes forming a Youth Advisory Council. This council will consist of young adults aged 18 to 28, who have firsthand experience with local systems, providing valuable insights into the challenges faced by their peers. The grant will also support a comprehensive public awareness campaign to address the diverse needs of children in areas such as education, health, and community safety.
Senator John Fetterman played an instrumental role in securing this funding. He emphasized the importance of supporting vulnerable youth through targeted initiatives. “This funding will go a long way in helping VFC expand its impact,” said Senator Fetterman. “I’m proud to have fought for and secured this funding to help VFC continue this important work.”
With this grant, CASA Youth Advocates are poised to make substantial strides in supporting and empowering the youth of Delaware County, ensuring a stable and supportive environment for future generations.
