Fashion District and School District Team Up for Back-to-School Event

PHILADELPHIA, PA — Fashion District Philadelphia is collaborating with The School District of Philadelphia to support families as they prepare for the upcoming school year. The partnership will feature a special event on Friday, August 9, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at The Cube (901 Market Street entrance).

The Back-2-School Bus Tour will offer complimentary backpacks and school supplies while they last. Attendees will receive back-to-school information, no-cost immunizations, physicals, educational activities, and school registration assistance. The event will also include games, treats, and other surprises.

Highlights of the day will include a parade featuring the 76ers Drumline and The Sixers Stixers, music by DJ B_All, and a fashion show presented by Philly Fashion Week. Children can participate in a runway contest to win prizes. Businesses in The District will offer special promotions and events during the tour.

Individuals and corporations are encouraged to donate new backpacks and school supplies at Levi’s (Level 2R) to support local families.

Fashion District Philadelphia General Manager Ryan Williams expressed the importance of the initiative. “Fashion District Philadelphia is proud to team up with The School District of Philadelphia to help Philadelphia youth be set up for success this school season,” he said. “This is one of many programs we do to support our local families and communities.”

Philadelphia schools will start the new school year in late August. The Back-2-School Bus Tour at Fashion District Philadelphia will help ensure students are ready.

Event details include:

  • Complimentary backpacks and school supplies for all age groups, available on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • The School District and partners will provide back-to-school tips and information.
  • Free immunizations and school physicals.
  • Snacks and frozen treats while supplies last.
  • Educational and fun activities for children.

The schedule of events is as follows:

  • Doors open at 9:00 AM for families to line up.
  • Giveaways start at 10:00 AM and continue while supplies last.
  • Festivities run through 2:00 PM.
  • A check presentation to The School District of Philadelphia at 10:30 AM.
  • Music by DJ B_All from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM.
  • A parade with The Sixers Stixers at Noon.
  • A fashion show and youth runway contest at 1:00 PM.

  • Claire’s: Complimentary face painting, 20% off purchases, additional 20% off with ear piercing, and free school supplies with purchases over $25.
  • Hershey’s Ice Cream: BOGO half off.

  • Wonderspaces: 15% off general admission tickets on August 9 with code BACK2SCHOOL.
  • Skechers: BOGO half off storewide, teachers get an extra 10% off, and $10 off purchases over $100 with a $5 donation to AdoptAClassroom.org from September 1-30.
  • Sephora: Spin the wheel with any purchase to win a prize.
  • Kids Kastle: Complimentary upgrade to Gold Package with the purchase of a regular package for $15.
  • Columbia: Backpacks and select gear 25% off, and up to 70% off close-out items.

Donations of new bookbags and school supplies are being accepted at Levi’s on Level 2 of The District through August 16. Donations after August 9 will be distributed by The School District.
