DOVER, DE —– The Delaware State Police, in partnership with the American Legion, will host the 52nd Annual Trooper Youth Week from Monday, June 16 to Friday, June 20, 2025, at the Delaware State Police (DSP) Training Academy in Dover. This live-in Academy program offers high school students a firsthand look at the demands and challenges of a career in law enforcement.
Trooper Youth Week is designed to introduce students with a genuine interest in law enforcement to the rigorous training police officers undergo. The week-long experience combines mental and physical challenges, with a schedule featuring daily outdoor physical training such as running, push-ups, and sit-ups, along with classroom instruction focused on various law enforcement topics. The program is led by uniformed troopers assigned to the DSP Training Academy and School Resource Officers from across the state.
Open to high school seniors, juniors, and sophomores, the program promises a competitive selection process aimed at identifying students who demonstrate a strong commitment to exploring law enforcement careers. Selected participants will need to actively engage in all aspects of the training. Notably, there is no cost to students to attend.
Applications for Trooper Youth Week are now available for download from the Trooper Youth Week website or can be obtained through school resource officers at participating schools. Interested students must submit their completed applications no later than 4 p.m. on Friday, May 23, 2025.
