EnerSys

READING, PA — EnerSys (NYSE: ENS), a global leader in stored energy solutions, has once again been recognized in Newsweek’s America’s Most Responsible Companies 2024 list. The company’s second consecutive appearance on this prestigious list reaffirms its dedication to corporate responsibility and sustainability.

The award, presented to EnerSys by Newsweek and Statista Inc., acknowledges companies that have shown exceptional commitment to Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles. This year, EnerSys improved its ranking, rising to 352 out of 500 companies, which is a testament to the company’s ongoing efforts in sustainability and corporate responsibility.

To determine the rankings, Newsweek and Statista evaluated publicly available key performance indicators covering corporate social responsibility topics. They also conducted a public survey to gauge companies’ CSR reputations. The evaluation considered each company’s performance holistically and in terms of the environmental, social, and governance subcategories.

President & CEO David M. Shaffer expressed his gratitude for the recognition. “This acknowledgment underscores our commitment to continuous improvement and highlights the progress we’ve made in our sustainability journey,” he stated. “It also affirms our firm commitment to being a responsible corporate citizen for the benefit of our customers, investors, employees, and the communities we operate in.”

EnerSys has taken several significant steps towards sustainability. Notably, it recently disclosed its 2022 value chain (Scope 3) greenhouse gas emissions data for the first time, alongside its Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) report, CDP report, and Sustainability Report.

Furthermore, EnerSys is an active participant in the United Nations Global Compact and the Alliance to Save Energy. It’s also a part of the U.S. Department of Energy’s Better Plants Program and the United Nations CEO Water Mandate. The company has further committed to achieving net-zero Scope 1 emissions by 2040 and net-zero Scope 2 emissions by 2050.
