PHILADELPHIA, PA — East Passyunk Avenue is set to shimmer and shine this holiday season as the East Passyunk Avenue Business Improvement District and Passyunk Avenue Revitalization Corporation present their annual Christmas Tree Lighting. This community-wide celebration will take place on Wednesday, November 29, 2023, with festivities kicking off at 5:30 PM at the iconic Singing Fountain, located at the intersection of Tasker and East Passyunk Avenue.
This festive event marks the start of the Deck the Ave month-long holiday campaign on East Passyunk, turning the vibrant district into a winter wonderland. The streets surrounding the famous Singing Fountain will be closed off to create one of South Philadelphia’s largest neighborhood celebrations.
The evening promises an array of exciting activities and performances. Santa himself will make a special appearance, not only to help light the magnificent Christmas tree but also to pose for photos with children of all ages. Live carolers will serenade attendees with classic holiday tunes, and guests can expect to see special guests and dignitaries on stage. Music performances by the Coppin Home Band and the Quaker City String Band will add a melodious note to the merriment.
But the festivities don’t end with the tree lighting. Attendees can look forward to a host of events designed to ‘Deck the Avenue’ throughout the night and all month long. In addition, they are encouraged to explore the culinary delights of East Passyunk’s award-winning restaurants and discover unique finds in the diverse retail stores.
