LANCASTER, PA — A man was arrested on the scene of an alleged armed robbery in East Hempfield Township, Pennsylvania. The suspect, identified as Jeffrey A. Boyer, 60, of Lancaster, is facing multiple charges.
At approximately 6:30 am on Monday, January 1, 2024, East Hempfield Township Police were called to Turkey Hill, located at 1503 Columbia Ave, following reports of an armed robbery. A bearded male, later identified as Boyer, allegedly entered the store, displayed a rifle to an employee, and demanded cash before fleeing in a white Chevrolet work van.
Seven minutes later, Manor Township Police were dispatched to Speedway, located just across the street from Turkey Hill. Here too, a robbery had reportedly occurred, involving a suspect with a similar modus operandi and description.
While police were investigating at Turkey Hill, the suspected robber returned to the scene in the white Chevrolet van. At approximately 6:47 am, Boyer was taken into custody without incident. A black rifle was observed on the front passenger seat of Boyer’s vehicle.
Fortunately, no one was injured as a result of these incidents. An undetermined amount of cash was taken from both businesses.
Boyer was charged with two counts each of Robbery, Terroristic Threats, and Recklessly Endangering Another Person. He was arraigned by Magisterial District Judge Brian Chudzik on the charges, and bail was set at $150,000, which Boyer was unable to post. Consequently, he was remanded to Lancaster County Prison on the charges.
As the investigation continues, it’s important to remember that an arrest, a criminal complaint, or information related to the case is not a declaration of guilt. Boyer, like any suspect, arrestee, or defendant, is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
