TREVOSE, PA — In a significant development aimed at enhancing job accessibility throughout the region, Pennsylvania Department of Labor & Industry Secretary Nancy A. Walker, alongside local dignitaries, this week celebrated the official launch of the Bucks County PA CareerLink® Work Force on Wheels (WOW) vehicle. This state-of-the-art mobile job center replicates the comprehensive career development services offered at the Bucks County PA CareerLink® office, including resume writing, interview coaching, and more.

Administered by the Bucks County Workforce Development Board, PA CareerLink® serves as a vital bridge connecting job seekers with career opportunities while aiding employers in finding and retaining talent. The introduction of the WOW vehicle reflects a commitment to dismantling barriers to employment, notably transportation, by bringing essential career services directly to communities.

Secretary Walker emphasized Governor Josh Shapiro’s focus on providing real opportunities for Pennsylvanians and their families. “The WOW vehicle moves us in the right direction towards expanding these opportunities by bringing career development resources directly to communities throughout Bucks County,” she stated.

The vehicle, equipped with 12 seating stations, a TV screen, laptops, and charging facilities, serves as a mobile hub for a variety of employment services. These include résumé writing workshops, interview preparation, job search assistance, and recruitment events. Since its soft launch in March 2024, the WOW vehicle has partnered with local libraries, recovery centers, and community corrections facilities, making impactful appearances at numerous local events.

Billie Barnes, Executive Director of the Bucks County Workforce & Economic Development, highlighted the potential of WOW to increase awareness about available workforce services. “We are hoping that this will aid us in our number one challenge, which is getting the word out that we exist, and just telling people all of the wonderful things that we can do,” Barnes noted.

This initiative is part of a broader series of job fairs and community events organized by CareerLink® locations across Pennsylvania, aimed at educating residents about career opportunities and the suite of services available to them. Governor Shapiro’s administration remains dedicated to promoting skills-based hiring and expanding career paths, as reflected in the recent bipartisan 2024-25 budget increase for Career and Technical Education funding and registered apprenticeship programs.

PA CareerLink® continues to support Pennsylvanians by providing tools to meet the evolving needs of businesses and matching employers with qualified candidates. From resume workshops to job fairs and adult education classes, the services offered are comprehensive and free, designed to empower individuals in their career pursuits.

The launch of the WOW vehicle marks a pivotal step in making career services more accessible and aligns with the Shapiro Administration’s vision of fostering economic growth and opportunity throughout Pennsylvania.
