Diesel and Motor Oil Spill Cleanup Scheduled for Route 897

Traffic Alert

EAST COCALICO TWP, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced that a diesel fuel and motor oil spill cleanup is planned for Tuesday, August 13, on Route 897 in Lancaster County. The cleanup site is located approximately 0.5 miles east of the intersection with Ridge Road.

Weather permitting, the cleanup will occur between 8:30 AM and 3:00 PM. During this period, the northbound lane of Route 897 will be closed. Flaggers will manage the traffic flow, directing alternating directions of traffic through the work zone on the southbound lane.

Motorists should anticipate delays and remain alert for slow-moving traffic and construction vehicles entering and exiting the roadway. PennDOT encourages drivers to exercise caution and patience to ensure safety around the work zone.

This cleanup was initially scheduled for Thursday, August 8, but was postponed due to inclement weather.
