DOVER, DE — Delaware’s Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control (DNREC) is now accepting proposals for matching grants aimed at planning surface water projects. The initiative is open to county and municipal governments, conservation districts, and estuary programs. Proposals must be submitted by 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, August 21, 2024.
Funding Opportunities
Eligible projects include a broad range of activities. These encompass planning and preliminary engineering for surface water projects, stormwater retrofits, green technology practices, stream and wetland restoration, small watershed studies, and master plans for surface water and drainage projects. Other projects aimed at controlling source water pollution are also eligible.
Grant applications can request up to $50,000. However, applicants must provide a one-to-one cash match. Additionally, up to 10% of the grant funds may be allocated towards administrative costs. There is an annual cap of $100,000 per applicant for cumulative grant awards in any given fiscal year.

The Surface Water Matching Planning Grant program is part of Delaware’s Clean Water Revolving Fund. The goal is to support projects that reduce surface water runoff and improve water quality in impaired watersheds.
