MEDIA, PA — In recognition of her outstanding contributions to urban planning and community development, Rebecca Ross, a Principal Planner in the Delaware County Planning Department, has been honored with the Governor’s Awards for Local Government Excellence. This prestigious accolade was presented by Governor Josh Shapiro, Lieutenant Governor Austin Davis, and Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) Secretary Rick Siger.
Ross is among nine distinguished individuals from across Pennsylvania celebrated for their exceptional service in local government. Her achievements include leading significant projects such as the Countywide Comprehensive Plan for Delaware County. This work involved her key role in authoring a Land Use Policy Framework, a Historic Preservation Plan, and a Housing Plan. Additionally, Ross spearheaded the revitalization plan for the Borough of Prospect Park and played a pivotal role in creating a multi-municipal corridor master plan for Chester Pike.
Alongside her professional accomplishments, Ross’s commitment to her community extends into voluntary service. She actively participates in the southeast section of the American Planning Association, Pennsylvania Chapter, and represents her locality on the state Professional Development Committee.
