NEWTOWN, PA — David Navazio, President and CEO of Gentell, has been named the recipient of the 2025 Baldrige Foundation Award for Leadership Excellence. This prestigious award recognizes individuals who have demonstrated exemplary service and leadership across various sectors, including health care, education, government, and business. Navazio’s achievements in the healthcare sector and his pioneering work in wound care will be honored at a ceremony in Baltimore on April 1.
Under Navazio’s leadership, Gentell has grown from a modest medical supply company, established in 1994, to a global leader in wound care with 800 employees operating across five continents. Gentell’s innovative programs and advanced practices have transformed the approach to wound care, improving outcomes and positively impacting patients worldwide.
Among Navazio’s contributions to the field of wound care is his role in spearheading pivotal Medicare reforms in the 1980s that expanded coverage for wound care and related products. He has also prioritized the needs of long-term care residents and seniors, developing the “Wound Care Culture™” paradigm, which elevates wound care to a strategic initiative with shared beliefs, practices, and education at its core. Innovations such as the Fastcare® wound care record-keeping system, which is set to incorporate artificial intelligence, further exemplify his forward-thinking leadership.
“Receiving the Baldrige Leadership Award is a proud moment for me and for the entire Gentell team, as we share in this accomplishment,” said Navazio. “It is wonderful to be recognized for our devotion to quality, excellence, and leadership, parallel to Mr. Baldrige’s mission. We strive for excellence in everything we do to improve care for people’s wounds and healing around the world.”
Al Faber, President and CEO of the Foundation for the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award, emphasized the significance of this recognition. “The leadership awards recognize outstanding individuals, leaders, and supporters who embody Baldrige leadership and management values and principles, and who have provided outstanding service to the Baldrige community and beyond,” he said.
The Baldrige Award is one of the highest honors for individuals who exemplify quality and innovation in their respective fields. Navazio’s vision, commitment to excellence, and industry advancements cement his legacy as a leading figure in health care and wound care innovation.
The upcoming award ceremony will celebrate not only Navazio’s personal achievements but also the collective accomplishments of the Gentell team, whose efforts have continuously advanced the standard of care for wound care patients worldwide.
