PHILADELPHIA, PA — Energy services company, Customized Energy Solutions (CES), has announced a multi-year partnership with Peninsula Clean Energy, the leading electricity provider for over 300,000 customers in San Mateo County and the City of Los Banos. The partnership aims to manage and optimize Peninsula’s renewable energy and energy storage portfolio within the California Independent System Operator (CAISO) markets, marking a significant step towards Peninsula’s goal of supplying 100% renewable energy by 2025.
Peninsula Clean Energy, a Community Choice Aggregation entity, generates more than 3,600 gigawatt hours annually. By teaming up with CES, the company aims to enhance its management of renewable resources, ensuring a reliable and sustainable energy supply for its extensive customer base.
Effective January 15, 2024, CES will assume comprehensive responsibilities as the scheduling coordinator for Peninsula Clean Energy. These responsibilities include load forecasting, scheduling of load, generation, and trades, and optimization of renewable resources, energy storage, and paired assets in the CAISO’s energy and ancillary services markets. This strategic move is aimed at maximizing the efficiency and output of renewable and energy storage resources, demonstrating both companies’ commitment to environmental stewardship and innovative energy solutions.
In addition to scheduling coordination and asset optimization, CES will manage Congestion Revenue Rights for Peninsula Clean Energy and provide advice on energy storage procurement and onboarding processes. These efforts are expected to bolster Peninsula Clean Energy’s infrastructure and enhance its resource management capabilities.
This collaboration goes beyond a business partnership, reflecting a shared commitment to advancing renewable energy adoption in California. By working together, CES and Peninsula Clean Energy aim to significantly reduce the carbon footprint and establish new standards for sustainable energy practices.
