Construction on U.S. 422 to Cause Traffic Delays in Montgomery County

Lane closures

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced upcoming construction activities on U.S. 422, part of an $83.6 million project to reconstruct and improve a 2.1-mile stretch of the expressway between the Sanatoga Interchange and Porter Road in Lower Pottsgrove Township.

From Monday, July 15, through Friday, July 19, a lane closure will be in effect on eastbound U.S. 422 between Keim Street and Evergreen Road from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM daily. Motorists should plan for extra travel time due to expected backups and delays. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.

This Section M1B project involves reconstructing U.S. 422 on both existing and revised alignments. The improvements will enhance horizontal curve radii, shoulder widths, and vertical clearance, aiming to boost travel safety. Additionally, a culvert at Sprogels Run and a single-span bridge over Porter Road will be replaced with a new two-span bridge. The project also includes reconstructing and widening the bridge carrying U.S. 422 over Sanatoga Road and Sanatoga Creek.

Motorists are urged to drive cautiously through the work zones as these significant infrastructure upgrades proceed.
