WILMINGTON, DE — Wilmington Police have taken a man into custody following the discovery of a suspicious vehicle on North Market Street. The incident occurred on October 28, around 7:37 a.m., when members of the Uniformed Services Division responded to a call concerning the vehicle in question.
Upon arrival at the 3000 block of North Market Street, officers made contact with the vehicle’s occupant, identified as 24-year-old Khalil West of Chester, Pennsylvania. A subsequent investigation led to West’s arrest without any incident.
The police recovered a significant quantity of drugs from the scene, including 508 grams of marijuana and 26 grams of crack cocaine. In addition, they seized $2,205 in cash and drug paraphernalia.
Following his arrest, West faced multiple charges. These include possession of a controlled substance with the intent to distribute in Tier 3 quantity, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of marijuana.
After being arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11, West was committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution. His cash-only bail has been set at $33,000.
