ELKTON, MD — Cecil County Executive Danielle Hornberger has been elected to serve as the treasurer of the Maryland Association of Counties (MACo) Board of Directors. The announcement was made during MACo’s 2023 Winter Conference held at the Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay Hotel in Cambridge, Maryland on December 7.
MACo is a non-partisan, non-profit organization that advocates for the needs of local government to the Maryland General Assembly. It provides valuable educational and training programs and serves the twenty-three counties of Maryland, along with Baltimore City. The Board of Directors, consisting of sixteen county elected officials, is responsible for guiding the organization’s strategic direction, overseeing the budget, and making crucial policy recommendations.
Hornberger, who was initially installed as a member of the MACo Board of Directors on January 5, 2023, will serve a one-year term as treasurer. Her new role signifies a significant milestone in her ongoing commitment to the betterment of Cecil County and Maryland as a whole.
Expressing her gratitude, Hornberger said, “I am extremely honored to have been elevated by my peers to an officer role on the board. It’s so important for Cecil to have a seat at the table within this statewide organization, which is responsible for helping to shape the policies that impact all Marylanders.”
