Cecil College Honors Athletic Icons with 2025 Hall of Fame Induction

NORTH EAST, MDCecil College celebrated the remarkable contributions of four key figures to its athletic legacy during the Class of 2025 Hall of Fame induction ceremony on March 29. Held in the Technology Center’s conference room at the North East Campus, the event recognized John Rajaski, Joseph McCahon Jr., Mike Wilson, and Alicia Nutter for their impactful roles in elevating the College’s reputation in sports.

The Hall of Fame, created to commend individuals who have significantly influenced Cecil College athletics, added these honorees to its distinguished ranks.

John Rajaski
A legendary coach and educator, the late John Rajaski led the men’s basketball team from 1983 to 1995, gaining recognition as Maryland JUCO Coach of the Year in 1988. With a coaching and teaching career spanning four decades, Rajaski also contributed to Cecile’s golf and tennis programs. His widow, Sandy Rajaski, honored his memory during the ceremony, recalling his passion for mentoring both athletes and students.

Joseph McCahon Jr.
A standout player under Coach Rajaski, McCahon was pivotal in Cecil’s 1988 JUCO championship win. Accumulating 729 points during his two seasons with the Seahawks, McCahon carried his basketball talents to Salisbury University, where he clinched MVP honors. Following his athletic career, he credited basketball with instilling resilience and perseverance, values that helped him overcome a cancer diagnosis at age 25.

Mike Wilson
A power hitter on Cecil’s baseball team, Mike Wilson nearly achieved the NJCAA triple crown in 2006. With a record-breaking season that included 22 home runs and 84 RBIs, Wilson earned the prestigious NJCAA Player of the Year title. A graduate of Wilmington University, Wilson reflected on his time at Cecil, calling it a period of transformation and support that set the foundation for his success.

Alicia Nutter
For nearly two decades, Alicia Nutter has been the driving force behind Cecil athletics operations. Her role as Athletic Services Specialist includes overseeing team logistics, securing funding for scholarships, and ensuring the overall success of the department. Athletic Director Ed Durham praised her undying commitment, stating, “She’s been a keystone of our athletic programs.”

This year’s Hall of Fame ceremony reflected the College’s ongoing appreciation for those who shape its vibrant athletic culture, both on and off the field.
