Cecil College Celebrates Margaret Goldwater’s 50-Year Artistic Journey

ELKTON, MD — Cecil College’s Art and Design program is set to host an extraordinary exhibition honoring the prolific career of artist Margaret Goldwater. Titled “Margaret Goldwater: 50 Years of Art,” the showcase will run from April 4 to April 22 at the Elkton Station Gallery, offering visitors an opportunity to explore decades of mastery and innovation in art.

The exhibition will feature an impressive variety of Goldwater’s work, including paintings in multiple mediums, stained glass pieces, ceramics, hand-carved decoys, quilled artwork, custom jewelry, and more. Goldwater’s art has reached audiences worldwide, with pieces residing in collections across Canada, Germany, Portugal, England, France, and throughout the U.S.

A graduate of Cecil College’s Art and Design program, Goldwater has deep roots in the Elkton community, where she continues to teach and take classes. Reflecting on her lifelong passion for art, she shares, “If you take one class, you’re going to get hooked,” capturing the spirit of her enduring creative exploration.

Special Reception on April 4

A highlight of the exhibition will be a special reception held during Elkton’s First Friday Art Loop. This event will take place on Friday, April 4, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Elkton Station Gallery. Attendees will have the chance to meet Margaret Goldwater, engage with her about her five decades of artistic achievements, and enjoy a guided tour and talk. The evening will also feature live music, hors d’oeuvres, door prizes, and the opportunity to purchase unique artwork.

The Elkton Station Gallery will be open to the public during the following hours for the duration of the exhibition:

  • Monday through Thursday: 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.
  • Friday: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Saturday: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
