PHILADELPHIA, PAU.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers and agriculture specialists hosted a career-focused lunch and learn event for local youths from the KB Foundation at Philadelphia International Airport on Wednesday. The event aimed to inspire awareness of federal law enforcement careers and provide an engaging educational experience.

The KB Foundation, a non-profit mentoring organization, works to develop social and educational competencies in adolescents through various programs and partnerships. The organization collaborates with local businesses and public agencies to expose youths to diverse career opportunities.

“I was linked up with the KB Foundation through some of our local stakeholders. I met with them and really appreciate what they are doing for our local youth,” said Donald Josey, CBP’s Assistant Area Port Director for Passenger Operations in Philadelphia. “This was an opportunity to introduce middle school students to CBP and to a potential career in federal law enforcement.”

The event featured a series of demonstrations showcasing CBP’s operations, including canine units, baggage screening, and trade enforcement activities. Participants also observed live inspections of international travelers, providing them a unique glimpse into the agency’s frontline duties.

“Customs and Border Protection’s missions are vital to our national and economic security, and engagements with our local youth mentoring organizations help to raise public understanding of our agency and potentially raises interest by them in a future career with CBP,” said Cleatus P. Hunt, Jr., CBP’s Area Port Director for the Area Port of Philadelphia.

This initiative underscores CBP’s commitment to fostering community connections and encouraging the next generation to consider career paths in protecting the nation’s borders and securing international trade.
