Bucks and Montgomery Counties Brace for Traffic Delays Amid PennDOT’s Stormwater Improvement Project

Road work - traffic alert

SOUTHEASTERN PENNSYLVANIA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has announced plans for significant stormwater improvements on state highways in Bucks and Montgomery counties next week. This is part of a larger $14.9 million project aimed at upgrading stormwater management and facilities on over 90 state highways throughout the five-county Philadelphia region.

From Monday, March 4, through Friday, March 8, between 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM daily, lane closures are scheduled at the following locations:

  • Route 611 (Easton Road) between Silo Hill Road and Point Pleasant Pike in Plumstead Township, Bucks County.
  • Bethlehem Pike between Swartley Road and Orvilla Road in Hilltown Township, Montgomery County.
  • Church Road between S. Gulph Road and Henderson Road in Upper Merion Township, Montgomery County.
  • Wynnewood Road between Athens Avenue and Argyle Road in Lower Merion Township, Montgomery County.
  • Route 463 (Forty Foot Road) between Clemens Road and Koffel Road in Hatfield Township, Montgomery County.

Drivers are advised to allow extra time when traveling through these work areas as backups and delays are anticipated. As with all construction projects, the schedule is dependent on weather conditions and may be subject to change.

Highway Materials, Inc of Flourtown, Montgomery County, has been appointed as the general contractor for this extensive project. The project is financed entirely with state funds, underscoring the commitment of the state to improving its infrastructure.

As the Greater Philadelphia region braces for these improvements, patience and understanding from motorists and local residents will be key.
