Bridge Street Closure Announced for Overhead Bridge Construction in Northeast Philadelphia

Road Closed

PHILADELPHIA, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has announced the temporary closure of Bridge Street in Northeast Philadelphia next week to facilitate overhead bridge construction. The closure is part of the ongoing I-95/BS2 project, which involves the reconstruction of I-95 in both directions between Margaret Street and Carver Street.

From Wednesday, February 19, through Friday, February 21, Bridge Street will be closed to traffic between Tacony Street and Aramingo/Harbison Avenue from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM daily. During this period, motorists will be required to follow posted detour routes.

Northbound Bridge Street traffic will be directed to turn left onto Tacony Street and right onto Aramingo Avenue. Southbound motorists will detour via Aramingo Avenue, Orthodox Street, Pearce Street, Lefevre Street, and Tacony Street.

Drivers are advised to allow additional time for their commutes, as delays and backups are expected in the vicinity of the work area. PennDOT has stated that all construction activities are contingent on the weather and may be adjusted as necessary.

Motorists are urged to exercise caution and adhere to detour signs to ensure the safety of workers and other travelers. Stay ahead of delays and detours—visit the MyChesCo Traffic Center for real-time updates and all the latest roadwork information!
