Bridge Replacement Project to Begin on Greenville Road in Lancaster County

Traffic, flagging

WEST COCALICO TWP, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has announced the start of a multi-year bridge project on Greenville Road (Route 1053) north of Denver in Lancaster County. The bridge spans Cocalico Creek near the intersection of Greenville Road, Peartown Road, and Sportsman Road.

Weather permitting, work will commence on Monday, April 28, with initial activities focused on tree trimming and utility relocations. Daytime flagging will be implemented as necessary. Later this summer, the bridge will be closed to facilitate its replacement, with a subsequent announcement expected closer to the closure date.

The project involves replacing the existing bridge with a two-span prestressed concrete spread box beam design. Additional efforts include minor approach work, the installation of updated guide rails, roadway reconstruction, and other associated improvements.

Susquehanna Valley Construction Company of New Cumberland, PA, is the contractor for the $2,587,500 project. All construction is slated for completion by October 16, 2026.

Motorists are advised to remain alert for work crews and flagging operations while traveling in the area.
