COLUMBIA, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has announced the commencement of interim repairs on the Route 462 Columbia-Wrightsville Bridge, which connects Lancaster and York counties over the Susquehanna River. Scheduled to begin Monday, September 16, the project aims to address structural concerns by repairing bridge beams and reinforcing select columns on the Wrightsville side.
The contractor, CriLon Corp. of Somerset, PA, will oversee this $910,780 initiative. Throughout the construction period, traffic flow will be maintained, though long-term lane shifts will be implemented. One lane will remain open in each direction, with periodic single lane closures managed by flagging as necessary.
Boaters should adhere to signage to avoid work zones under the bridge. A weight restriction of 10 tons remains enforced due to prior identified structural damage, and this measure will persist post-repair to mitigate further deterioration.
