Bridge Repair Begins Monday on Westbound Girard Avenue (U.S. 13 South) over Kelly Drive, Schuylkill River in Philadelphia

Road work - traffic alert

PHILADELPHIA, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced that bridge repair will begin next week on the structure that carries Girard Avenue (U.S. 13) over Kelly Drive and the Schuylkill River in Philadelphia.

The work schedule and location are as follows:

  • Beginning Monday morning, November 6, a right lane closure will be in place on a section of westbound Girard Avenue (U.S. 13 South) over Kelly Drive and the Schuylkill River. The lane closure will be in place 24/7 for several weeks or until bridge repairs can be completed.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work area because backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.

Pedestrians and cyclists are advised that a detour will be put in place sometime later this month when the sidewalk closes on westbound Girard Avenue (U.S. 13 South) over Kelly Drive and the Schuylkill River. Pedestrians and cyclists will be directed to follow the posted detour.
