Bridge Inspections to Cause Lane Closures on I-95 and Platt Bridge

PHILADELPHIA, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has scheduled bridge inspections for the Interstate 95 Girard Point Bridge and the George C. Platt Bridge. These inspections will result in temporary lane closures.

On Tuesday, August 27, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM, the right lane of the eastbound deck on the Platt Bridge (Route 291) will be closed between Island Avenue and South 26th Street. Later that day, from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM, the right lane on the westbound deck will close between South 26th Street and Island Avenue.

For the I-95 Girard Point Bridge, alternating lane closures will be implemented on the northbound deck from Wednesday, August 28, to Thursday, August 29, between 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM. These closures will occur between the Enterprise Avenue and Broad Street (Route 611) interchanges.

Motorists should plan for additional travel time as delays are expected. All activities are subject to weather conditions.
