SOUTHEASTERN PENNSYLVANIA — Travelers in Philadelphia and Bucks County are set to face potential delays as the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) gears up for a series of bridge inspections on key state highways. The inspections, vital for ensuring the safety and integrity of these structures, will lead to temporary lane closures and likely traffic disruptions.
On Monday, April 29, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, drivers should be prepared for a lane closure on Rhawn Street, stretching between Holmehurst Avenue and Lexington Avenue in Philadelphia. This inspection is part of a broader assessment effort aimed at maintaining the area’s transportation infrastructure.
Additionally, the same day brings targeted lane closures to Route 309 (Sellersville Bypass) in Hilltown Township, Bucks County. From 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM, the right lane on southbound Route 309 will be closed between Route 113 (Main Street) and Bergey Road. The focus then shifts to the northbound direction, where from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM, a right lane closure is scheduled between Bergey Road and Route 113 (Main Street).
The inspection schedule continues on Friday, May 3, with a right lane closure planned on northbound State Road from Rhawn Street to Ashburner Street in Philadelphia, taking place from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
PennDOT advises motorists traveling through these areas to anticipate slowdowns and allocate additional time for their journeys. The efficiency of the inspections, critical for the ongoing safety of the bridges, is contingent upon favorable weather conditions, potentially affecting the timing of these activities.
