Bridge Inspections on I-76 and I-295 to Cause Traffic Slowdowns

PHILADELPHIA, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced that bridge inspections will result in lane closures and potential traffic slowdowns on Interstate 76 and I-295 next week.

On Monday, June 10, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, the right lane of eastbound I-295 will be closed between the Business U.S. 1 and U.S. 1 interchanges in Middletown Township, Bucks County.

On Tuesday, June 11, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, the right lane of westbound I-295 will be closed between the U.S. 1 and Business U.S. 1 interchanges in Middletown Township, Bucks County.

On Thursday, June 13, a series of closures will take place on I-76. From 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM, the right lane of eastbound I-76 will be closed between the I-676 and University Avenue interchanges. From 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, the right lane of westbound I-76 will be closed between the University Avenue and I-676 interchanges. Finally, from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM, the right lane on the University Avenue ramp to westbound I-76 will be closed.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through these areas, as slowdowns may occur. All activities are weather dependent.

These inspections are part of PennDOT’s program to ensure the safety and overall condition of the bridges, which are inspected at least once every two years.
