COLUMBIA, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has announced plans for a bridge inspection that is poised to impact traffic across the Susquehanna River next week. The critical examination of the Route 30 (Wrights Ferry) Bridge, connecting Hellam Township in York County with Columbia Borough in Lancaster County, is scheduled to take place, weather conditions permitting.

Motorists traversing this key artery can expect daytime lane restrictions from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM on Monday, May 6, and Tuesday, May 7. To facilitate a thorough inspection, traffic flow will be limited to one direction at a time. The process will commence on the eastbound lanes, stretching from York County to Lancaster County, before shifting focus to the westbound lanes, guiding traffic from Lancaster County back to York County. During these operations, the right lane and shoulder of the bridge will be closed to traffic.

Travelers planning to use the Route 30 Wrights Ferry bridge during these times should prepare for potential backups and delays. PennDOT urges drivers to remain vigilant, adhere to signs within the work zone, and exercise caution not only for their own safety but also to ensure the safety of the inspection crews stationed on the bridge.
