Bridge Deck Repairs on Byberry Road to Cause Traffic Delays

Traffic Advisory

PHILADELPHIA, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced that bridge deck repairs will disrupt traffic on Byberry Road over the CSX railroad starting Monday, June 24.

The road will be closed 24/7 between Evans Street and Worthington Road until late July. During this period, motorists are directed to use U.S. 1 (Roosevelt Boulevard), Southampton Road, and Worthington Road.

Drivers should allow extra time when traveling near the work area, as backups and delays are expected. Local access will be maintained. All activities are weather dependent.

The project involves replacing the bridge’s asphalt overlay and repairing deck steel. PennDOT plans a full bridge replacement project for late 2024 or early 2025. Traffic flow will be maintained during that future project.

These repairs are part of ongoing efforts to enhance infrastructure and ensure roadway safety.
