DELWARE COUNTY, PA — Construction activities will continue next week on Interstate 476 under a $63.7 million Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) project to resurface, repair and improve nearly 17 miles of the interstate, the associated on-and-off ramps and bridges from Interstate 76 (Schuylkill Expressway) in West Conshohocken Borough, Montgomery County, to Interstate 95 in Ridley Township, Delaware County.
On Sunday, November 5, through Thursday, November 9, from 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, a lane closure will be in place on sections of southbound I-476 between the Route 3 (Upper Darby/Broomall) and I-95 interchanges for bridge deck repair; and
Additionally, on Sunday, November 5, through Thursday, November 9, from 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, a lane closure will be in place on sections of northbound I-476 between the I-95 and Route 3 (Upper Darby/Broomall) interchanges for tree clearing.
Motorists are being advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work areas because backups and delays may occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.
PennDOT’s project aims to improve I-476 by overlaying structures, sound walls, and stormwater basins. The goal is to enhance ride quality, safety, and the of the interstate.
H&K Group, Inc. of Skippack, PA, is the general contractor on this project, which is financed with 100 percent federal funds. Work on the entire project is expected to finish in late 2025.
