Bridge and Roadway Construction to Impact I-295 and U.S. 1 in Middletown Township

traffic alert expect delays

MIDDLETOWN TWP, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has announced a series of bridge repair and roadway construction activities scheduled for next week on I-295 and U.S. 1 in Middletown Township, Bucks County. These measures are part of ongoing efforts to maintain and enhance the region’s critical transportation infrastructure.

From Monday, December 16, through Thursday, December 19, motorists traveling both eastbound and westbound on I-295 near U.S. 1 should anticipate overnight single lane closures. These closures, operational between 9:00 PM and 5:00 AM the following morning, are necessary to allow for bridge repair work. Similarly, daytime traffic on U.S. 1 will also experience restrictions. A right or left lane closure will be implemented between 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM on the southbound side of U.S. 1 near the I-295 overpass to accommodate a traffic shift.

Additional work is planned for Tuesday, December 17, through Thursday, December 19, with barrier installation requiring a right lane closure on southbound U.S. 1 during overnight hours, from 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM.

Delays and backups are anticipated within and around the work zones. Motorists are advised to allow extra time for travel and exercise caution while navigating these areas.

All scheduled construction activities remain weather-dependent, and adjustments may occur in response to changing conditions. Travelers are encouraged to monitor traffic updates and plan accordingly.
