PHILADELPHIA, PA — Carpenter Technology Corporation, a recognized leader in high-performance specialty alloy-based materials and process solutions, announced the appointment of Brian Malloy as its new Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. The promotion is set to take effect on December 4, 2023.
In his new role, Malloy will expand his responsibilities to oversee operations of Carpenter Technology’s Specialty Alloys Operations (SAO) and Performance Engineered Products (PEP) business segments. He will continue to report directly to Tony Thene, the company’s President and Chief Executive Officer.
Brian Malloy has been with Carpenter Technology since 2015 and currently serves as Senior Vice President and Group President of the SAO business segment. His previous roles within the company include Senior Vice President and Group President of the PEP business, as well as Senior Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer.
Tony Thene, President and CEO of Carpenter Technology, expressed his confidence in Malloy’s leadership and his deep understanding of the company’s operations and portfolio. “With our near-term focus on ramping up our operations to meet record customer demand, Brian’s demonstrated leadership and deep understanding of our operations, solutions portfolio, and key commercial relationships are invaluable,” Thene stated. He added that in the long term, Malloy will be instrumental in driving the organization’s progress towards its communicated financial targets for the coming years.
Malloy holds an MBA from the College of William & Mary, a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Virginia Tech, along with executive certifications from Northwestern University for Artificial Intelligence and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology for Digital Transformation. His exceptional expertise is further highlighted by his previous roles on the Boards of the International Titanium Association (ITA) and the Specialty Steel Industry of North America (SSINA), and his co-inventor status on five patents.
