WILMINGTON, DE — The Wilmington Police Department is once again fuelling its initiative to build stronger community ties with its upcoming ‘Coffee with a Cop’ event. This initiative has been a resounding success, fostering open dialogues between the police force and the public over a comforting cup of coffee.

The upcoming gathering is set for Wednesday, January 10, from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Chancery Market, located at 1313 North Market Street. The police officers are encouraging patrons, dropping in for their morning caffeine kicks and bakery delights, to pull up a chair at their table.

This provides a unique opportunity for the public to interact directly with law enforcement officers, raise any concerns, ask questions, and pick up some public safety-related information and giveaways. It’s not often one can chat informally with a police officer while enjoying a warm croissant and a hot brew!

The ‘Coffee with a Cop’ series had its genesis in the department’s observance of National Coffee with a Cop Day in October 2022. Such was the positive response that the program has continued as a monthly series throughout 2023 and will extend into 2024. Each month, the officers organize an event at different coffee shops across Wilmington, creating additional opportunities for the public to engage with them and learn about the resources available to the community.

So, mark your calendars for a stimulating morning with the city’s finest at Chancery Market. It’s an excellent chance to bridge the gap between civilians and law enforcement, one coffee cup at a time.
