LOWER POTTSGROVE TOWNSHIP, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has announced scheduled construction on U.S. 422, Sanatoga Road, and Porter Road from January 6 to January 10, 2025, as part of an $83.6 million project to enhance 2.1 miles of expressway and replace bridges between the Sanatoga Interchange and Porter Road in Montgomery County.

The work will necessitate intermittent lane closures and traffic stoppages throughout the week:

  • U.S. 422 Westbound: Single lane closures will occur between Evergreen Road and Armand Hammer Boulevard from 4:00 AM to 2:00 PM on January 6 and 7. The same section will experience right lane closures with 15-minute traffic stoppages for controlled blasting from 4:00 AM to 2:00 PM on January 8 through 10.
  • U.S. 422 Eastbound: Single lane closures will be enforced between Keim Street and Evergreen Road from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM on January 6 and 7. Controlled blasting will also result in right lane closures in this section from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM on January 8 through 10.
  • Sanatoga Road: Both directions will experience intermittent single lane closures with 15-minute stoppages between E. High Street and Linfield Road from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM, January 6 through 10.
  • Porter Road: Similar stoppages will occur in both directions between E. High Street and Sanatoga Station Road from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM during the same period.

Motorists should plan for delays and consider alternate routes. All construction activities are weather-dependent. PennDOT urges drivers to exercise caution when traveling through these areas and to allow extra travel time to account for anticipated congestion.
