Brace for Traffic Chaos: Major Bridge Inspections to Disrupt Philadelphia Highways!

Traffic Alert

PHILADELPHIA, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has announced a series of bridge inspections scheduled for next week that will affect traffic on several major highways in Philadelphia. These inspections are part of PennDOT’s comprehensive program aimed at evaluating the safety and structural integrity of bridges across the state, which are inspected at least biennially.

Motorists should be prepared for lane closures starting Monday, October 14, when alternating right lane closures will occur on Tacony Street, affecting both directions between Aramingo Avenue and Bridge Street, from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM. On Wednesday, October 16, a right lane closure is planned for the northbound I-95 ramp leading to Philadelphia International Airport, scheduled from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM.

The following day, Thursday, October 17, will see a right lane closure on the eastbound I-676 ramp to northbound I-95, which is expected to last from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Finally, on Friday, October 18, northbound Henry Avenue between Monastery Avenue and Dupont Street will experience a right lane closure during the same hours.

These closures are essential for facilitating the thorough inspection of bridges, ensuring they meet safety standards and remain in optimal condition. While the closures are necessary, they may lead to traffic slowdowns. Motorists are advised to plan accordingly and allow extra travel time when navigating these areas.
