PHILADELPHIA, PA — The Boeh Agency (Bā) has announced a new partnership with Surge for Water, a nonprofit dedicated to improving access to safe water, sanitation, hygiene, and menstrual health solutions worldwide. The collaboration aims to amplify Surge’s mission and raise awareness about the critical issue of water equity.
Through this partnership, Boeh Agency will focus on expanding Surge’s reach to new audiences while strengthening its message about addressing water scarcity and promoting sustainability. Together, the two organizations plan to make a significant impact globally by bringing attention to the life-changing work being done in vulnerable communities.
“In many impoverished regions around the world, young children — particularly girls — are unable to attend school due to the burden of collecting water for their families, the risk of waterborne illnesses, and a lack of access to menstrual products or adequate hygiene facilities,” said Surge Founder and Executive Director Shilpa Alva. “Women and girls bear the greatest weight of the water crisis, with an estimated 12 million girls missing up to 20 percent of school each month due to menstruation.”
Since its founding in 2008, Surge has worked directly with local communities, often with women leading the way, to address the global water crisis. The organization reported a record 43 percent growth in its outreach last year, positively impacting 108,000 people in countries like Haiti, Uganda, Indonesia, and the Philippines. Surge focuses on four main areas of need to create long-term change:
- Safe Water: Ensuring communities have access to clean water, which affects education, health, and income opportunities.
- Sanitation: Providing proper facilities to help children stay in school.
- Hygiene: Promoting handwashing to save lives and improve health.
- Menstrual Health: Offering resources to prevent girls and women from missing school or work due to a lack of menstrual products and support.
The Boeh Agency sees the partnership as a natural fit, aligning with its mission to work on issues that benefit people and the planet. “Our synergy was a natural fit. At Bā, we are passionate about people, the planet, and the water that connects us,” said Beth Boeh, President and CEO of Boeh Agency. “Supporting another women-owned company that connects females and global water access completely aligns with our mission.”
Both organizations stated that they are committed to creating a future where water scarcity no longer limits lives, with women and girls playing a central role in the transformation.
