WERNERSVILLE, PA — A stroke of luck hit Berks County this week when a local Pennsylvania Lottery retailer sold a Powerball® ticket that turned out to be worth $100,000. The fortunate ticket was purchased for the Monday, April 1 drawing from South Mountain Beer Distributing located at 5104 Penn Avenue in Wernersville. This win comes as the Powerball® jackpot continues to climb, reaching an estimated annuity value of $1.09 billion, or a cash option of $527.3 million for the upcoming drawing tonight, April 3.

The winning ticket matched four of the five white balls drawn — 19, 24, 40, 42, 56 — and the red Powerball® 23. Thanks to the player’s decision to add the $1 Power Play® option, their prize doubled from $50,000 to $100,000. The Power Play® multiplier for this drawing was two, showing the significant impact this feature can have on winnings.

South Mountain Beer Distributing will also be celebrating, as they are set to receive a $500 bonus for selling the winning ticket. However, the identity of the winner remains a mystery until the prize is claimed and the ticket validated. Winners have one year from the drawing date to step forward.

In addition to the $100,000 winner, more than 153,200 other PA Lottery Powerball® tickets won prizes of various amounts in the same drawing. This includes over 27,200 tickets purchased with Power Play® and more than 12,900 tickets with Double Play®, urging players to check every ticket, every time.

This jackpot run has not only excited players but also generated significant sales in Pennsylvania. With more than $84 million in sales, the lottery has created a profit of over $33 million, benefiting older residents in the state. As of Tuesday morning, tickets were selling at an astonishing rate of $1,400 per minute.

The Powerball® jackpot has been growing since it was last claimed on January 1, 2024, by a ticket in Michigan, which won $842.4 million. With the current jackpot nearing the record $2.04 billion mark set in California on November 7, 2022, anticipation is building. The last time a Powerball® jackpot was won in Pennsylvania was on August 3, 2022, adding an extra layer of excitement for local players hoping for another big win in the state.

As the jackpot continues to rise, players are reminded to dream big but play responsibly. Who knows? The next big winner could be right around the corner.
