RADNOR, PA — Avantor, Inc. (NYSE: AVTR) has announced the appointment of Dame Louise Makin, DBE, Ph.D., to its Board of Directors. Her initial term is set to expire at Avantor’s 2025 Annual Meeting of Stockholders. Dame Louise joins the board as an independent director, filling a previously vacant seat.
With an impressive track record in the life sciences sector, Dame Louise brings significant expertise to Avantor. She previously served as the Chief Executive Officer of BTG plc for 15 years, where she led the company through numerous strategic transformations, culminating in its acquisition by Boston Scientific in 2019. Her career also includes key leadership roles at Baxter Healthcare, where she last served as President of Biopharmaceuticals Europe.

Dame Louise currently serves as the non-executive chair of Halma plc and has held various non-executive director roles across several companies, including Premier Foods plc and Intertek Group plc. Her academic accolades include an Honorary Fellowship at St John’s College, Cambridge, a master’s degree and Ph.D. from the University of Cambridge, and an MBA from The Open University. In recognition of her contributions to business and science, she was honored as a Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire in 2014.
