KING OF PRUSSIA, PA — The Association of Title IX Administrators (ATIXA) has broadened its scope to include training and support for Title VI compliance, responding to shifting federal standards and increasing challenges faced by schools and higher education institutions. This expansion provides administrators with enhanced training, certification programs, and consulting services to address pressing civil rights concerns effectively.
As sectarian tensions and Title VI-related complaints rise, ATIXA emphasizes the critical need for robust compliance policies and conflict resolution strategies. Brett A. Sokolow, J.D., Chair of the TNG Board of Directors and ATIXA Advisory Board, highlighted the initiative’s significance. “Campuses and schools are grappling with fractious events, OCR resolutions, and heightened stress stemming from global tensions,” Sokolow said. “Expert training, thoughtful policy development, and strategic guidance are indispensable for maintaining compliance and fostering equitable educational environments.”
ATIXA’s expanded offerings include a new Title VI webinar series, providing actionable strategies for professionals handling compliance challenges. Critical sessions include topics such as “Getting Certified in Title VI Compliance” (April 23) and “Tailored Title VI Consulting Services” (May 14), culminating with an overview of Title VI resources for members on July 24.
Furthering its commitment, ATIXA will unveil new Title VI certification courses at the 2025 Summer Symposium, taking place from June 9-14 in Portland, Oregon. The curriculum includes fundamental and advanced compliance courses, civil rights investigation training, and sessions addressing free speech and activism within educational settings. These programs are tailored to equip K-12 and higher education administrators with the tools necessary to ensure compliance with federal guidance while fostering an inclusive educational experience for all.
Key courses featured at the symposium include:
- Title VI Compliance Foundations Levels One and Two
- Title VI and Civil Rights Investigation Fundamentals
- Free Speech and Responding to Protests in Educational Settings
Beyond public training, ATIXA offers consulting services to educational institutions, including tailored training, investigations, resolution support, and interim management services for schools undergoing transitions. By expanding its offerings, ATIXA reaffirms its dedication to helping educators and administrators address Title VI challenges, deliver equitable solutions, and maintain compliance in an increasingly complex legal landscape.
