ASTM International Welcomes New President to Drive Future Growth and Innovation

WEST CONSHOHOCKEN, PA — In a significant leadership transition, ASTM International, a global leader in the development and delivery of voluntary consensus standards, announced the appointment of Andrew G. Kireta Jr. as its new president starting May 1, 2024. Kireta succeeds Katharine Morgan, who retires after an illustrious 40-year tenure with the organization.

Bill Griese, the 2024 chair of ASTM’s Board of Directors, expressed enthusiasm for Kireta’s appointment, highlighting his extensive experience and deep commitment to ASTM’s mission. “Andy has spent years supporting ASTM International in various volunteer roles and is exceptionally well-suited to lead the organization forward,” Griese stated. He also praised Morgan’s leadership, acknowledging her role in positioning ASTM to embrace future challenges under Kireta’s guidance.

Kireta brings to the table a wealth of experience from the Copper Development Association, where he has served since 1992, including two decades in executive management. A member of ASTM International since 1998, Kireta has held various key positions within the organization, notably serving as chair of the board in 2020. His background in standards development and leadership within both ASTM International and its affiliate, SEI International, positions him uniquely to steer the organization towards new horizons of growth and innovation.
